Howcan you beat a morning coffee with this kind one a backdrop?
I’m not sure it’s possible.
Last night was pretty much cloudless and the stars put on a full display. The air was crisp and sleeping was easy with the window open and the cold air filling the room as we snuggled under our big Hudson’s Bay wall blanket.
The first thing I heard this morning when I woke up was a loon calling in the bay below our window.
I had this fleeting thought that the loon is the rooster of the aquatic realm.
It called out again and I thought…yup….aquatic rooster.

Here is peaceful, rustic, easy. I lit a morning fire, Kirk made coffee, and we leaned on the rail overlooking Garden Bay. Calm. Stress-free. Perfect.
We just sort of hung out for most of the day. Reading, chilling in the spring sunshine. Eventually we started thinking about cocktails….mojitos seemed in order….

I’d packed rum, mint, limes…but dammit, if I hadn’t forgotten the club soda!?!
So a drive over to Madeira Park and the local IGA for some mixer, and then back to our little sanctuary for a mojito and a book on the desk.

We stopped at an artist’s collective and mentally spent a LOT of money on some cool fish related metal artwork, and a few frog paintings, but we behaved and kept it to mental spending and not actual spending. Some old vehicles aside the road caught my attention and Kirk stopped to humour me. A dog came running across the highway to visit us as I took some photos of the bulldozer……and almost was killed when a car barely managed to stop as it ran back across. My heart was in my throat as I thought I was going to witness the death of the friendly pup. But the car managed to stop …… barely…. and the dog cringed as it seemed to realize how close it came to having its life ended…before it ran back home.
