Two bright spots actually.
The first was a lost mylar balloon tangled in a fern along the service road in the Capilano Canyon. It was a wet and miserable run this morning, before the worst of the weather arrived, and the red balloon caught my eye. Balloons really are terrible things, environmentally speaking, and this is an example of why. This is lost garbage that won’t break down. Lost balloons end up tangled in birds wings, blocking stomachs of animals, and just generally are a hazard.

The second bright spot was much better, a lunch date with my graduate supervisor. We ran into each other at a seminar at UBC a few weeks back and we’ve been trying to find a time to catch up ever since. We managed that today, and it was half social, half work related, and all fabulous.
