If I have an excuse to not run, I will try to convince myself to use it.
I’m tired.
It’s too hot.
It’s too cold.
It’s raining.
I’m tired.
I’ll do it tomorrow.
My knees hurt.
I’m tired.
I’ll do it after lunch.
I’ll do it after work.
I’m tired.
Seriously… I. Am. Tired.
But some days I lose the argument inside my head (losing means I have to run) and somehow make it out whatever door I’m behind. And then I mutter all the way through it and am just happy to have survived another stupid run.
I went through my entire (massive) music library and threw pretty much every song with “run” in the lyrics into a running playlist.
Have you ever noticed that you sing to the lyrics of so many songs but when you actually “look” at the lyrics you’re like …. WTF is THAT all about!?!
I just looked a the lyrics for a song I love….’Run Runaway’ by Slade.
I like black and white
Dream in black in white
You like black and white
Run runaway
See chameleon lying there in the sun
All things to everyone
Run runaway
If you’re in the swing
Money ain’t everything
If you’re in the swing
Run runaway
See chameleon lying there in the sun
All thanks to everyone
Run runaway (Let’s go!)
If you got it sussed
Don’t beat around the bush
If you got it sussed
Run runaway
See chameleon lying there in the sun
All things to everyone
Run runaway
See chameleon lying there in the sun
All things to everyone
Run runaway
Two, three, four!
Two, three, four!
Oh now can’t she wait?
No no come on and wait
Oh now can’t she wait?
Run runaway
See chameleon lying there in the sun
All things to everyone
Run runaway
I like black and white
Dream in black in white
You like black and white
Run runaway
See chameleon lying there in the sun
All things to everyone
Run runaway
See chameleon lying there in the sun
All things to everyone
Run runaway
Run, runaway
Run, runaway
Run, runaway
I’m not in a deeply philosophical mood at the moment…so I’m just going with “it has a great beat that makes running easier”…whatever ‘easier’ means…. and that’s enough for me today.
I ran, leave me alone inner critic!
I’m tired!
