The Drive Back Home – Day 313

by The Philosophical Fish

It rained last night.

A LOT.

Like 60-plus mm in the rain gauge at the hatchery since late afternoon yesterday.

And so I knew it would be a very different scene on the way out. The rivers were swollen. Waters that had clear were muddy and raging. The road was more pockmarked with potholes….the upside being that they were easy to discern on the logging road…because they were full of muddy water. The rain collected in the hills and poured through the forest and across the rocky surfaces and spilled out of the trees like someone had opened a thousand fire hydrants.

But the colours int he marshy areas. Reminiscent of the Chilcotin plateau in September. Just stunning.
