Into the Mists – Day 308

by The Philosophical Fish

Winter is coming.

It caught me a little off guard to be honest.

We used to buy annual passes to Grouse Mountain but haven’t in about 8 years. We decided to buy them again since Kirk’s health benefit plan provided a benefit for a random mental and physical health purchase. Some people buy golf passes, or gym memberships. He opted to buy an annual pass to the mountain again, plus a parking pass for the year, and then I bought mine out of pocket.

Still half price.

I’ve hiked along the power line in the past five years, and done the section of the Baden Powell trail nearby, but we’d not been up the mountain in so long. SO today we hopped not he tram and headed up for a late lunch/early dinner.

When we got up there we wrecked surprised that winter has already started to settle in! It was lovely to have a little bit of unexpected wintry weather, complete with an inch or so of snow on the ground. Kids were lobbing snowballs around. There was even a little snowman ..albeit slowly melting.

We settled in at Altitudes Bistro for a bite to eat and the familiar waitress caught us off guard; until recently she’d served at Bufala in the Village below. The food was as good as we remembered, and the view from the top never gets old.
