It’s getting close to that time of year when I abandon tomatoes because the season of flavour is coming to an end. In the winter months, one can still find pretty fruits that look like they should taste wonderful, but they don’t They are usually all flash with no substance. So as the season comes to a close and the locally grown produce becomes more scarce and the stores shift to imports, my choice shifts to root vegetables, which feel warm and comfortable through the cooler and wetter months.
