Echo Chamber – Day 286

by The Philosophical Fish

The phrase generally has a negative connotation.

An echo chamber is “an environment where a person only encounters information or opinions that reflect and reinforce their own.” The term is a metaphor based on an acoustic echo chamber, in which sounds reverberate in a hollow enclosure.

But tonight’s echo chamber was very very positive….it was Cirque du Soleil style 😊

And while we waited to enter, we ordered a glass of wine and gasped at the bill, and sat down on a picnic table in the beer garden and chatted with another couple who sat down next to us. And a few moments later she looked at Kirk and asked if we used to shop at Save on Foods on Marine Drive in North Vancouver.

Yup.

She used to work there and remembered him. From over ten years ago!

The show was amazing. I mean, what Cirque isn’t though. We’ve seen:

  • Corteo
  • Kooza (twice)
  • “O” (Las Vegas)
  • Cavalier (the one with the horses)
  • Luzia
  • Amaluna
  • Quidam
  • And now Echo

It was different than the others though. More …production…? It didn’t feel as edgy and dangerous, but more…story in a way. That’s not to detract from how amazing it was, but it was different.

I have yet to attend a Cirque that didn’t leave my jaw hanging open at some point, and this was no different. And being int he second row means that are literally flying over your head.

Amazing!
