I wasn’t going to post a photo of the Northern Lights today, instead I had a photo of the stair master in the canyon that was the first half kilometre of a trail run I did after lunch. I’m working on rebuilding strength and stamina and have decided to use trail running around the canyon as a means to do so. I basically go out the door from the hatchery and head straight up a series of slopes and stairs that ends with a 198 stair climb (a total of about 270 stairs over less than 500m) before starting to run at the top.
I stopped to take a photo just before the top of the stairclimber, and did a crazy juggle with my phone that almost saw me lose it over the edge….twice….before I got a solid hold of it and my heart rate. I then trail ran for about 3.5km.
So yeah, sure….here’s that.
….but……
I have some nicer images from late last night. So sure, I’ll call it a bit of a cheat because they were on the borderline…
What is astonishing is how well the phone takes images of the lights. They don’t appear this bright to the eye, and I took a bunch of images with the phone brightness turned way down so as to not blind us. But I didn’t actually look at them until earlier today when a couple of people on my team posted their images so I pulled mine up and was like “WHOAH!”
As I said, I wasn’t going to join the posting-party because pretty much everyone on Facebook was sharing photos and mine are no better and no worse.
But what the hell.
Here are some of mine, taken from our deck upstairs. I didn’t sleep particularly well last night, and every time I woke up I glanced out the window and saw green skies, pink skies….
We live in an amazing world.
