Planning for Canning (Day 231)

It’s that time of year…the time when I pull out all the empty jars, count them up, check the state of what’s still on the shelf, pull out the cookbooks, and make some decisions on what to preserve for enjoyment over the next year.

Spicy bean pickles, spicy carrot pickles, tomatoes, BBQ sauce, blueberry chutney, strawberry tarragon jam, roasted corn stock, chicken stock, .raspberry chipotle sauce, pineapple pepper jelly, cranberry pepper jelly…. and what else…….not sure yet.

I have a week to think about it….after this Thursday I’m off for two weeks to get the annual canning projects wrapped up.

All the little put-ups I look forward to and which settle my mind and ground me again in the joyful memories of spending time in my grandmother’s kitchens when I was young. I imagine they’d b both be pleased that I learned things and still carry forward the days on the farm and in the orchard. ☺️❣️
