I woke up sometime around 3 or 4am this morning and the first thing that hit my senses was the fresh odour of the world soaking up some much appreciated rain. Then I heard the raindrops landing softly on the deck outside the open patio door.
The walk to the hatchery was also a feast for the senses.
Everything smelled refreshed.
The soft sounds of water falling through the canopy was a pretty symphony.
And the water seemed to make the wide range of greens brighter and more vibrant and, despite the rain creating more contrast in the forest, I processed the quick shot to intentionally make it softer and more hazy.
I think it’s been about a month since there was any measurable rain, and almost two months since we had as much as we received today (10-20mm depending on where one is). It’s restoring and needed, but is not nearly as much as the province needs.
