Play-date with the Lensbaby (Day 208)

by The Philosophical Fish

While many of my weekday shots are quick takes, I try to pull out one of the bigger cameras and one of the art lenses I so lovingly collected on my days off.

Today was the Lensbaby Sweet 35 optic on a straight body. It’s a fun little optic that gives an overall blur with a focal sweet spot (thus the name). It’s fun to experiment with it.

I have such an obsession with this plant.

I first saw one in The Eden Project in England when we were on our way home from a sailing trip in Greece and we stopped for a few days to meet/visit some people I’d never met but had enjoyed building friendships through Flickr.

When I found a bear’s breeches in the garden centre it took a few tries to get one settled in a suitable location in the garden but when it finally landed in the right spot, it took with a vengeance. Right off the deck so I can enjoy it every day, and count the spikes to see if it’s throwing up more than each year previous.

And after that, a few photos of the sempervivum creeping over a rock beside the pond….
