….ergo, so am I 😊
It’s been quite some time since we’ve insured the bikes this early. It’s usually just raining too much to be bothered. It will probably come, but it’s worth the cost even if we just get a couple of days in this month and next.
First ride or the year, and first rise with the new lid….and it definitely needs to break in….It is TIGHT. I’ve ridden with a Bell for the past 5+ years but decided to go back to a Shoei since the Bell still gave me pressure pains after all those miles. The last Shoei broke in fairly quickly and so I’m hoping this new one will too. I can say that it is a damn sight quieter than my last two helmets, so that’s pretty sweet!
We did a quick run up to Starbucks in Squamish and enjoyed a coffee in the warm sunshine. It was 19C when we left home and, except for a few chilly spots where the sun rarely hits on the Sea to Sky, it was a comfortably warm ride. The riders in Squamish were predominantly in our general age bracket, lots of seasoned riders sporting silver locks. Also lots of smiles and happy attitudes, and lots of clean and shiny bikes.
It feels good to be back on the bike. She felt good, except for desperately needing some new shoes. I pretty much flattened her heels last year and, even if I hadn’t, I did also put a screw thought the rear tire and had it patched. It’s time to get new rubber.
Last year, on one of the long trips, my co-pilot (Wall-E) left his head somewhere between Kaslo and New Denver. I picked up this little guy on Amazon and we will see how long he stays attached (I’m picking up a couple extras for backup). We were amused to see a woman and her daughter walk across the parking lot, stop behind my bike, and laugh and point. The mother reached out and spun his propellor and laughed harder.
My job is done here.
And that’s what kind of a Saturday it was.
