Kirk continued working on our floor repair, which entails further destruction and necessitates chiselling out a half a dozen floor boards one by one. The current hardwood flooring was laid overtop the original 70+ year old hardwood flooring and was glued down by a previous owner. When we bought the place there were a couple of boxes of leftover boards int eh garage, and we were lucky enough that the company was still around when we renovated and extended to flooring into the dining room and through the kitchen.
When we did the renovation on the kitchen eight or so years ago, the pro kid who was apprenticing with our contractor spent a couple of days chiseling boards out so that the kitchen could be fit in with the existing floor.
Now Kirk is enjoying the same joy.
Meanwhile, a squirrel sat outside watching him and not at all concerned about the banging going on on the other side of the glass.
Yesterday, when I came home, I found a dead squirrel in the yard. I flipped it over and looked at the front foot…. We haven’t seen Bob in months, and the dead squirrel was not her, no bent toe. We don’t know if she’s still alive. She typically comes around in the morning and mornings are dark now, so we may just be missing her. Will we see her in the spring again? We hope so.
This one was hanging around while we ate breakfast and I went to check if it was Bob. I opened the garden door and offered a peanut. It cautiously came closer, and took the peanut…but no bent toe. So also “Not Bob”.
It “could” be Jack, the coat was bit more brownish than others, but not sure.
As Kirk continued to work, “Not Bob/Maybe Jack” hung round for quite some time in hopes….and it did pay off for him/her 😉
