It’s time for the Canyon Lights at the Capilano Suspension Bridge.
That time of year when everyone flocks to the neighbourhood and our street turns into a parking lot with crazy people getting into standoffs over street parking on our block. It’s a bit nuts.
We’ve lived on the North Shore since 1994, but had no idea this was a thing until we moved up the road, just a couple of minutes up the road, in 2013.
How did we NOT know about the Christmas lights at the Capilano Suspension Bridge until 2013?
I have no idea.
We literally lived just eight to ten blocks down the hill.
No idea.
We moved up here on Halloween in 2013, and a month later the lights were up and we were like “Oh, pretty!” Then one night we came home and were like “Is someone having a party, there are so many cars on the street!” Now we’re like “Sigh, here comes the craziness again.”
It’s kind of net to live next door to a world famous tourist trap…that’s also been rated the most overpriced tourist trap around. But it’s still kind of neat to live somewhere that people view as a destination (along with the Capilano Hatchery and Grouse Mountain, also all walking distance). However, it does get tiring sometimes, particularly when people get snippy about a parking spot they want and block all the traffic waiting for it….and then partially block residents driveways.
Still pretty tho’.
