I’m definitely always trying to listen above the rush of the river for anything lumbering around the path in front of me as I pick my way along the trails in the blackness, but at most I sometimes see a flashlight in front of me once in a while, which is typically the man who lives in one of the houses at the entrance to the park, and the LED light on his dog’s collar.
I am faster walker than he is, so I pass him and we say hello in the darkness, and I say “Hello Abby” to the green LED light…his big black standard poodle.
We can’t see each other, but we each know who the other is.
