No, not magic mushrooms….but the magic of mushrooms. The forest is just covered in so many types of mushrooms that it keeps my head swivelling as I walk the trails. I find myself ducking off the side of the path to crouch next to a log, under a tree, over a patch of moss….because some little (or large) fungi has caught my attention. I get. a few odd looks ….”what is she taking a photo of..!?“
After a little wander through the forest, we shuffled into the public side of the Capilano Hatchery for a little visit.
Yes, I know I work here a few days a week, so why would I want to go to a place I work from on a day off….because it’s really fun to watch people watching fish jump up the fishway. Seeing people appreciate the work (i.e. the salmon) that the hatchery staff work so hard to support makes the hard days a little easier. Today there were some small coho, and some pretty good sized Chinook jumping up the fish ladder and it was really enjoyable watching people appreciate them.
Oh, and one other, totally random, image for today. Three of us went for lunch today on Lower Lonsdale and we appreciated the humour of the restaurant….
