Motorcycle Roadtrip 2023 – Part deux – Day 6 – A Walk and Some Five Pin Bowling (243/365/2023)

by The Philosophical Fish

Another cool day off the bikes, but the rain seems to have finished with the area so we took the dogs for a walk and enjoyed the change of pace before spending some time at a local five pin bowling alley in the afternoon.

I think the last time either one of us played five-pin was at least 20 years ago; most of the lanes in Vancouver that we used to play at (and which are mostly gone now) were ten-pin. Ten-pin is far more satisfying to play because the ball tends to roll straighter and, unless you gutter, you almost always hit “something”. Not so with five-pin where I think 50% of my balls either end up in the gutter or are pulled into the black hole left by the one pin I “might” knock down.

Tomorrow we are back on the road again, for two more days of riding before ending up home. We should have been going down through the back side of Okanagan Lake but the McDougall fire has us rerouting to Princeton via Kamloops and Merritt down highway 5A. But first, it’s back up along Kootenay Lake and into Nakusp for a night in a campground.

Onwards!
