I thought my allergies were being coy….then, after three days of mild symptoms, it turned into a cold last night.
Dammit!
And, of course, I left some papers down at the hatchery that I needed for some things I was working on today. So I hoofed it down to the office and collected what I needed, and slipped back out and up the trails home.
And on the way, nature presented me with a photographic gift in the form of a big banana slug in the middle of one of my trails.
The convenient thing about photographing a slug is that it really can’t get away from you very quickly, if at all.
But….
….I have a random question….
Do slugs get dizzy?
Because this one did a little spin and I had that random thought. Does everything about a slug manifest slowly, including its response to moving in a circle?
I’m assuming the answer is no….but….it was a fun thing to ponder for a moment.
And now it’s back to nursing a cold and hoping it doesn’t turn into something awful, like one of my 24/7 coughs.
Please not that.
I’m hoping that, since it was obviously creeping in over the past three or four days and it was mild enough that I just thought it was allergies, that maybe I’ll get off this one lightly.
Fingers crossed.
One really strange thing today was the fact that it’s the first time I’ve spent a day working at home since we lost Gizmo.
It was too quiet….. 🥺
