Mish-Mash (153/365/2023)

I’m always happy when this native perennial opens up and shares its brilliant orange colour in the garden. I noticed its bright splotch of colour above and behind the waterfall this morning, glowing more vibrantly because the morning sun was directly on it. It’s just a little tiger lily, and it only every grants one to three flowers each year, and they are short lived, but I am grateful for their short show every year.

In other events today……I had two Stellar’s jays glaring at me through the window while I was lazing away a morning off before going for a run and then visiting the chiropractor to put me back together again; my back knotted and my neck jammed up from stress…and it felt a bit like a Hitchcock movie for a bit there. Later in the day, after I’d come home, they returned to haunt me so I plunked myself not he outdoor furniture with a book and a pile of peanuts and eventually coaxed the mother to grudgingly take them one by one. When Kirk came home at the end of the day, she flew straight to the back of a chair and stared in at him as if to say “Would you come out here and just throw a handful on the deck like you usually do in the morning? This lady is a pain in the ass!

And the final amusement for the day was a quick trip to the mall to return some empty containers to Lush and visit the bookstore. I get tired of circling for parking so I tend to just head up another level in the parkade and walk down farther. It just feels easier. Today I had to laugh, I was near the elevator and shrugged and thought “Sure, why not” …..well, because the elevator is STILL out of service, and not just this one. I’m pretty sure this has been out of service for close to a year, the other one too.

Fine, escalator then…..except when I started to walk down the stairs towards the escalator I saw that the down side was blocked off, which made the two signs, the one at the elevator and the second ten feet away, sort of amusing. Though apparently not to all given the writing on the wall…stairs up and down three levels it is then. 🤣
