Breakfast with Bob (139/365/2023)

by The Philosophical Fish

Today was technically my flex day, but I was also supposed to be travelling today. I opted to cancel the reservation that had been made for me in Kamloops because there was no way I could stop travelling at 4’ish and spend a night when I was only about four hors from home. I’d rather eat the overtime and just get home. I also knew I’d be doing a bit of work, and have to go into the office to return the car after fuelling and washing it. The damned ARI card doesn’t like Petro Canada though, and that’s the only gas station with a car wash attached to it….where the card “used” to work. One is also not permitted to put gas station purchases on a government credit card or attach it to a travel claim. So now, because Metro Canada has been removed from the designated list of gas stations where the ARI card will work, I have to pay for it on my own card and then put in a petty cash request. It’s too much bother for $8.00.

It was a nice day, and I have a bucket, some car wash soap, and a sponge….so part of my “work-day” entailed washing and vacuuming a government vehicle and then refilling it and driving through nasty Friday traffic to take it back to the office. Probably not the best use of my time, but after a week of driving around Southern and Central BC, and a 12 hours driving stint yesterday, it was a solid choice.

On the upside, Bob came to visit this morning, so we had some quality peanut time together before that little bitch Jack showed up. I am always happy to see her come back; it’s been three years now. She’s a little sweetie and apparently quite the survivor.
