I’d just settled into the couch with my coffee this morning when there was a light thud on the window and I saw a motion from my peripheral vision….Bob was stating not eh back of the outdoor couch and had her front paws not eh window a foot or so from where I sat inside.
She was giving me that “Hey, Peanut Lady…can I have some please??” look.
Well of course Bob…
I opened the door to the deck, pulled over the peanut jar, sat down cross-legged on the floor with my coffee, and proceeded to hand her peanuts one by one until she was satiated.
Bob doesn’t visit as much anymore….her territory is being challenged by Jack, another female squirrel who we don’t hand feed, but who seems to have decided that this yard is hers and she’s really a nasty little bitch to poor little Bob, forcing Bob to modify her visitation schedule or be chased around the yard by the usurper.
After Bob left, I settled back to the couch to decide what to do with the day and a text came in from a friend; a sister-from-another-mother. A little back and forth, some happy exchange, some congratulatory exchange, some sad/comforting exchange….and then a shoe discussion.
I like shoe discussions.
Particularly Fluevog shoe discussions.
See, here’s the thing, we have the same foot size, but only one of us lives somewhere that has not just one, but two John Fluevog stores…including the original store actually. And I am only too happy to go and try on and model shoes for her to provide some context on how things fit, if colour matches what’s online…etc.
But it doesn’t always go as planned, and sometimes it costs me…a lot.
Like today.
Two of the shoes that she was interested in are also ones that I was eyeballing, so I was more than willing to go and try them on.
However, while waiting for the staff member to bring out the shoes in the sizes I’d requested, I mistakenly picked up a pair of spectacular boots that I’d been looking at for a few months and (so far) successfully talked myself out of trying on.
The description…..
“The Conceptual Cookie is a treat that’s nearly impossible to resist. Built on the base of the beloved and iconic Cubist Cupcake, this stunning Swordfish Hi features custom metal hardware, John’s unmistakable Swordfish toe bump, and mesmerizing embossed leathers as seen on our Firefly Family – all the ingredients needed to bake up an iconic new classic. Don’t let the abundance of buckles intimidate you. While these adventurous ankle boots may require some initial buckle adjustments, they slip on easily once adjusted to your liking. Stay sharp!“
Nearly impossible to resist….check.
And then I made a second mistake and asked to try them on.
I shouldn’t have done that.
Because……
Dammit…..
I am weak.
(They are fabulous!!!)
