Quail’s Eggs (109/365/2023)

by The Philosophical Fish

Just a random photo for the day, taken with the Lensbaby Velvet 28.

A little dish of quail’s eggs that I cleared many years ago while in grad school and gave to Mom. I found them in a small box, protected in a tissue paper nest, in a chest that I was emptying after she passed away and decided to keep them.

They were one of those strange gifts that involved Mom having made some comment at some point that was an “I wish I could find some small eggs”. And me, at some point getting my hands on a dozen quail’s eggs from the UBC Quail Research Unit and gently and gingerly clearing and cleaning them with a needle and syringe.

She loved the gift and displayed them in a bowl for some time before retiring them for something different.
