I loved hardware stores when I was a kid.
I remember my Dad tinkering in his workshop in the basement. When I was little I was fascinated by that room, filled with nails, and screws, and nuts and bolts, and hammers, and bits of wood, and all sorts of other cool things that could be used to build interesting and functional things. And since I probably pestered him incessantly while he puttered around in his space, he used to give me a piece of wood, a hammer, and a handful of nails, and leave me to my devices.
I still love hardware stores as an adult. So today, when we had to stop in for a slightly bigger clear tote to use for Gizmo’s oxygen chamber and heat box, I disappeared and pulled out the iPhone to take some snapshots. Kirk eventually got tired of waiting for me as I wandered the aisles and went out to the truck to wait for me to finish amusing myself.
And no, Kirk did not buy any new hammers!
