Went for a walk with Kirk at the end of the day, into the Village to pick up some coffee beans. I haven’t been running lately, partly to do with weather, partly to do with work, partly to do with pet-related anxiety, so we’ve been trying to at least get out to walk for a little bit when the opportunity presents…like running out of coffee beans. On this evenings trip to go-go-beans we did a little circle walk and went by a house a few blocks away that has, for decorative purposes, the top of a power pole and associated glass insulators as a funny little feature in their garden.
It always makes me smile when I walk or run past it because it reminds me of Mom. It’s something she would have done if she’d had the chance, or had thought of it. She used to collect glass insulators, I think my brother kept them when we cleaned out her home after she passed away, I may have one somewhere. She picked up some cool ones over the years. Some found in random ditches, one or two probably found in a garage sale.
She liked odd and random things.
And she also liked to display odd and random things in odd and random places.
And clearly I am my Mother’s daughter in this, and so many other, ways.
