The upside of living in Lotusland …. spring comes early 😉
My sweetbox is also flowering, but the only reason I know that is that I can smell it before I ever see it. That annual, almost overpowering, vanilla scent, as I walk in or out of the driveway. I smelled it a few days ago and kept meaning to go look at the bushes, but never did.
Today, when I went out for a run, the heady scent hit me again and so I stopped to see where it was at with respect to flowering. The little tiny flowers are just starting to open, so there are still a few weeks of that perfume in the air. They pack a powerful punch.
Along my run I also saw a few clumps of snowdrops flowering in a few yards. My daffs are starting to poke their noses out of the ground, and some crocuses too I think, but given that these little white beauties were flowering a block from home, I imagine some of the green shoots along my driveway are also these…..just not quite as far along as they don’t get much sunshine yet.
I was running, so all I had was my phone. I suppose I could have gone home and grabbed my camera and come back for a better photo, but 5km on I was just knackered from the run and decided that this was good enough.
I keep reminding myself that this 365 Project is not about getting 365 amazing shots throughout the year, but more of a documentation of another year around the sun.
And, hopefully, some of the shots will be decent.
