Fading But Still Prickly

by The Philosophical Fish

My bear’s breeches plant is dying back, the dangerous things that one could try to call flowers but which have a propensity for making one bleed are starting to fall apart and are being picked apart by the birds. Their spininess makes for interesting images throughout their life cycle though.

And, for some reason, this makes me think (hopefully) about the election tomorrow. A striking plant, with a prickly attitude, decaying and in need of removal as we head towards winter.

No election has probably ever captured the attention, and dread, of Canada so much as the pending one tomorrow int he US. I don’t even think Canadians have paid so much attention to a Canadian election.

We are all exhausted and hoping that the right choice will be made, a choice that will shift a balance, ever so slightly even, in the direction towards rational and unified thinking of a majority, towards healing a people rather than tearing them further apart.

Our thoughts are with, and for, our neighbours to the south.
