Early this afternoon, Kirk looked at me and said “I want to go to Fluevog’s“
Who am I to EVER say no to a suggestion like that? Talk about whispering sexy to me!
So, in a moment of normalcy, we drove down to Gastown to visit John Fluevog’s flagship store, where he (and now his son) dream up their crazy footwear ideas.
I think, as for as the last decade goes, this has been the longest stretch of time with my not having bought a pair of Fluevog’s. Certianly it’s the longest dry spell without a visit to this mecca of mine.
But Kirk wasn’t asking for my benefit, no…he wanted to buy a pair of shoes that I’d been guilty of discovering online…and showing him.
However!
I have two pairs that I have been coveting, so I wasn’t coming out of there empty handed….although I did only purchase the boots and left the shoes for another day.
It’s not often that I buy what might be called, with a stretch of imagination, “sensible” footwear from Fluevog’s, but I think a comfortable (albeit fashionable) pair of ankle boots qualifies. So many other lovely things clamouring for attention/adoption…but it’s hard to think about heels when I don’t really have anywhere to wear them these days…and so many other lovely treasures already in my closet feeling dejected and lonely.
So fall ankle boots for me, and what can be called (with a serious stretch and some mental gymnastics) “sneakers” for him…. a new set of his & hers for the coming season.
It’s all about how you rationalize things…..
