It is Kirk’s birthday today, so…since a fancy dinner out (per usual) is out of the question…because of COVID, and….since an invitation to friends to come visit and share a glass of cheer on our back deck is also out of the question…because the weather is miserable….I cooked my first lobster tails ever.
And I discovered that cooking lobster tails is dead simple!
The things you learn when normal options are taken away 🙂
I just baked them….but stuffed a chunk of garlic inside each before doing so (I mean….lobster…garlic….duh!)
This is probably not a good thing to know, since lobster tails also involve copious amounts of garlic butter to dredge it in…and then the leftover garlic butter ends up poured over the sweet and nutty fingerling potatoes….
But now I have to give Kirk his lobster tail, which he is waiting for me to stop photographing…..so he can eat…. 🙂
And after dinner settles and the fabulous bottle of red wine circa 2008, one of the few gifted bottles remaining from our wedding back in 2009, is savoured….. after that….comes the Pretzel Crusted Cheesecake with Salted Caramel Sauce.
In other words….it wasn’t a normal birthday…but we “suffered” through it 😉
