I thought there were a lot of moths last week…now they are really swarming. I counted 31 of them on the wall when I opened the front door the other day, many more on the fence. Shake a bush or a tree and the number that take flight are too many to count.
Yesterday, when I drove into the driveway, two landed on the hood of the truck.
Today I opened the fridge and it took a moment to compute…one was hanging from the light inside the fridge.
I have no idea when it went in there, I don’t think it had been in there too long as when I rescued it and sent it out the front door it took to the air, flying in its looping manner over to a bush.
I catch those that I can from inside; three from the dining room this morning, two from the bathroom yesterday. We have at least four or five up near the windows off the breezeway….but I have no way to get them off a wall/window 16 feet up. So they sit there, flat against the wall.
I read that the outbreaks usually last four years, we are in year two. The swarms that have been documented are amazing! (globalnews.ca/news/7327963/swarms-of-western-hemlock-loop…)
