Another day of fence building…..nothing left in either of us but still had to take a photo to meet my personal project challenge. To put it into perspective, I couldn’t open a granola bar wrapper today and had to use scissors…..everything hurts.
So…back to the flowers.
This is an ornamental oregano plant I bought a few years back. i didn’t really expect it to survive the winter, but it’s on year three of coming back so…I guess it qualifies as a perennial in these parts 🙂 The only problem is that I have it in a low pot on the deck and the flowers hang down. it needs to be up on a post or in a hanging basket so one can actually see the interesting flowers that it produces…much prettier plant and blossoms than the garden infesting weed that I use for cooking. 😉
“A very intriguing form of Oregano, this forms a low trailing mound of powdery blue-green foliage. Summer through fall it bears drooping heads of hop-like flowers in a blend of shrimp pink, green and cream. Terrific in containers, even as an annual in colder regions. Ideal for draping over walls or in the sunny rock garden. Prefers excellent drainage. A fantastic British introduction that has been around for many years. May well survive to Zone 5 or colder if soil are exceptionally well drained.”
