I hardly have an excuse. I used to be a hairdresser in another life, but that was long ago. I used to cut Kirk’s hair, but sometime in the past 5 or six years I just stopped and we mutually agreed that visiting the local barber, now that we live just a few blocks form one, would be more fun for both of us.
It’s easy for me to ignore the length of my hair; a medium length cut that is well done can just grow out to a long cut and I am famous for going up to a year sometimes between cuts. The colour is another issue altogether, although I’m often not too sticky on having that done as often as some might.
But Kirk keeps his hair very short, so having gone since the beginning of March without a cut, because of COVID, has started to grate on him…and therefore on me. He likes to make a point of long hair by fluffing it out sideways and threatening to “swoop”. (Honestly, it’s not THAT long!)
I always used to cut with scissors-over-comb, clippers were just reserved for cleanup edge work…. but I’m far out of practice and it would take me a lot longer than it used to….so….
A pair of clippers arrived in the mail today and they made short work of most of the situation, while a smaller pair of trimmers cleaned up the edges and a little bit of old-fashioned scissor-over-comb work tidied up some weight lines that the clippers left behind.
And the man looks a lot tidier and more presentable now 🙂
