I had a dream the other night, it woke me up at about 3am…so I guess technically it was a nightmare, but it wasn’t one of those horrifying, heart-palpitating, nightmares that leave you breathless. It was more of a “WTF was that?” dream.
I dreamt …..
…. the pandemic measures were being lifted and we were all told to return to work, but we were also informed that people’s work schedules would be staggered and there would only be a few people in the office. I work on the 13th floor of an 18 floor building, with about 80+ people on our floor alone. No windows open, the air is recycled.
Do the math.
I took the elevator, with one other person, to my floor and got off. I went through the security door and, weirdly, the kitchen/lunchroom had been moved out of its room and into a main and open area on the floor just as one came in. I looked left and right, hardly anyone in sight.
Perfect.
I turned to my right and started to walk towards the corner where my desk lies… The closer I got, the more voices I heard..
When I arrived at my desk, there were two people working at it. They looked up at me and said I could squeeze in between them, there was room. I looked to the right down the area of the floor that houses our two collective working groups and absolutely everyone, plus twice as many more, was in the office. People were standing over others, breathing over their shoulders, sneezing and coughing, and carrying on their work in a horrifyingly crowded manner.
Well now, if that doesn’t tell me that my subconscious is a little bit anxious about going back to a densely populated office that was moving towards completely shared workstations…..
So what does that have to do with the image?
Absolutely nothing.
At our last home, I grew a fabulous Japanese wisteria. It produced magnificent blooms and it draped so beautifully over the arbour.
When we moved here, there really wasn’t a good place for one; it was too shady of a yard. But then I discovered the Chinese wisteria. A little smaller, a little slower growing, and a lot more shade tolerant. It also blooms later than the Japanese wisteria.
It took a few years to produce flowers, but last year it seems happy and there are lots of buds this year.
I like the way the flower bud seems to be encased in scales, like a dinosaur egg, or something equally interesting, getting ready to swell and burst!
