The today weather was on and off so, we took the opportunity during one of the “on” periods to go for a walk on the seawall in Stanley Park. It seemed that many people in Vancouver were doing the same.
The park is closed to vehicle traffic, except for those people visiting their boats at RVYC or the Vancouver Rowing Club. The road has been dedicated to bicycles and the seawall to foot and rollerblade traffic. For the most part it works. There was the odd oblivious cyclist who clearly didn’t get the memo, and there were those pedestrians who seemed unmindful that one path should travel in one direction and that the usual cycling path could be used for foot traffic walking in the opposite direction.
Other than that minor annoyance it was nice to get out beyond the yard. I like home, but I miss “not home” a bit.
And it was amusing to sit in the middle of the road through the park and be able to do this….. with the only traffic serving around you being bicycles wondering what I was doing…and then looking down and smiling as they passed.
I mean, seriously…when can you sit in the middle of the road, in Stanley Park, in Vancouver, on a warm Saturday, in May, during cruise ship season?
During a global pandemic…that’s when.
Well…might as well take advantage of a decent day, a silly toy VW van, a camera, and a husband willing to play along.
