The Magnificence of the World Through a Macro Lens

by The Philosophical Fish

I’m so pleased to have stuck my Nikon 60mm f/2.8 1:1 Micro lens back on my camera after a long absence. Micro is Nikon’s word for macro, it’s the same thing. The lens focuses to life-size, which means an object as small as an inch across can fill the frame. Can’t do that with most lenses without digitally cropping the image in software.

After last night’s rain, the sunshine this afternoon brought a richness to the garden, and that wonderful and oh-so- rich loamy scent. I can’t help but plunk myself down and look for little wonders.

Like the the Hart’s Tongue ferns, which are starting to unfurl and their fronds are spectacular when examined up close and personal.
