An Outing to the Beach

by The Philosophical Fish

I’ve been getting sick of photographing flowers, though I will probably still shoot more in the days ahead.

And I’ve been increasingly frustrated and demotivated.

So it was fortuitous that something silly arrived in the mail this morning.

We had to go across town again today, to pick up more medications for Gizmo. Antibiotics this time. We don’t know for sure what’s wrong with him; his lymphocytes and monocyte counts are extremely high and indicative of some sort of an inflammatory response. The fact that his lungs sounded good means it’s probably not a fungal infection, which is good. But it could be something bacterial hiding somewhere in him and contributing to the heart arrhythmia and the itchiness and feather mutilation. On the upside, the bloodwork showed normal liver and kidney enzyme levels, which means that those organs are in the clear. So we treat with a fourth medication for a week and see what transpires. Once we finish the prescription we will reevaluate and possibly move forward with x-rays, and maybe an ultrasound, to see if anything unusual shows up.

And so it continues.

But on the way home we stopped down at Ambleside beach for a little bit of salt air and some badly needed silliness.

Surf’s up.
