Siberian bugloss (Brunnera macrophilla ‘Jack Frost’); it’s not one of my favourite plants in the garden; it has a tendency to become lanky and send off shoots of small leaves, and I have to cut it back to keep it looking nice.
So that’s a strike against it.
And the very tiny blue flowers that sit on whisper thin stems in small sprays above the foliage both attract and annoy me at the same time. They are pretty, but they also look very much like forget-me-nots, which are a weed.
So that’s also a strike against it.
But when the flowers aren’t on it, and when the foliage has been pruned, it is a very handsome plant and the broad variegated leaves create a striking interest within the varied textured shades of green that dominate the garden.
Although I have a number of different and interesting flowers, that’s not what I generally plant for, with a few exceptions.
However all of that aside, I like the way the macro lens made this image feel dreamy and ethereal.
So it didn’t strike out completely.
