How are we only 99 days into 2020, yet it feels like it’s been forever!
I went out to take a photo of Queydo, the Garden Guardian Gargoyle, who sits perched on the wall above our courtyard. Sometimes I forget that he’s even there. I had another Queydo when we lived at the condo, but someone reached over the glass fence and stole him out of that garden. When we moved here I found another Queydo but, still feeling the sting of having Queydo version 1.0 stolen, didn’t put him “in” the garden, opting instead to put him high “above” the garden. To steal him someone would need a ladder.
While pointing the camera upwards to capture him, a little black-capped chickadee stopped to look at what I was doing for a few moments, before flying up to the roofline to eat some unsuspecting insect.
In Walden wood the chickadee
Runs round the pine and maple tree
Intent on insect slaughter:
O tufted entomologist!
Devour as many as you list,
Then drink in Walden water.
