I started an overnight rise on some bread today and asked Kirk to put the bottle of yeast back into the fridge.
He picked it up and looked at it before asking, mostly to himself …”I wonder what this is worth at the moment?”.
It’s true…. the toilet paper craziness seems to have (I think) waned and the latest item missing from the grocery store shelves that is (I hear from several people I’ve spoken with recently) impossible to find, is yeast.
I always have a jar of yeast in the fridge, so I guess I’m lucky that way.
….now…..if I could just get my hands on some whole wheat flour, which I am flat out of….
Maybe I could trade a few teaspoons of yeast for a few cups of whole wheat flour.

Yes I think you’re lucky to have this. I will use my last packet and half my recipe today as I make a family traditional coffee cake for Easter Sunday. Glad I have a jar of sour dough starter that I use for my bread making each week.
Be well.
