Isolation doesn’t have to mean “stuck indoors”. Today was a gorgeous day to get outdoors and clean things up a bit in the garden.
I have several different Hellebores but I’m always a bit sad that I planted this one back farther than I should have since it’s one of the ones that hangs its pretty little face downwards rather than facing the sky as some of the others do. And it’s the prettiest of the bunch, but I frequently forget to take a closer look when they are open. I should probably move it somewhere better, but I’ll wait until it’s drooped and the flowers have finished.
There were lots of people out walking their dogs, or just walking themselves. Most were neighbourhood residents and everyone was smiling and enjoying the warmth of the sun. But, other than couples, everyone also seemed to be maintaining their distances. From what I read that wasn’t the case elsewhere. Apparently Deep Cove was packed, the trails were packed, Cleveland Dam was packed….with little to no social distancing happening.
The Parks board is now closing Quarry Rock and the Lynn Canyon suspension Bridge because it would appear that people are too stupid, or simply too irresponsible, to behave appropriately under the current circumstances.
For our part, since we are still under isolation (though I’d be staying home anyway), we enjoyed people fromt he other side of our fence, and welcomed the odd visitor into our yard to make us smile…like this pretty little butterfly that I am unable to identify at the moment.
