This is a ticket machine (or lack thereof actually) that used to be in the foyer of my office building.
A previous government cut programs and let people go in the name of streamlining processes and making things “easier”.
That didn’t really happen. Well, they did let lots of people go, but they made things harder and less efficient.
But this wasn’t supposed to be a gripe about how a government damaged habitat programs, made it easier for large corporations to rape the environment, and made it harder for simple people to do simple things.
It was just meant as a slightly humourous statement on how society has made things harder by trying to make things easier by making us incapable of accessing the things that used to be easy to access…because once upon a time there was a person at a desk waiting to take a number to help you.
Now there is just endless holding in a digital queue to get to a voicemail box that is probably full and hangs up on you after being on hold for an hour or more.
Take a number……if you can find a number to take……
