Does anyone else have difficulty putting the first stroke of the pen to a brand new journal?
I still have a journal that I intended to use for conversations with Mom. That journal had been a gift to Mom by one of her best friends, while Mom was in the hospital in the initial days after her stroke. Joy intended Mom to use it to write during her journey after the stroke. mom never got that opportunity as she passed away days later.
I took the journal with me when I left, and I’ve opened it many times. But, even after seven years, I haven’t been able to start that one.
However, I have the same challenge, though perhaps not quite such an emotional block, starting any new journal. Some people seem to be so good at doodling and scribbling in anything. I have this “tidy” block; I love the clean look of an empty book. It speaks to possibilities, thoughts and ponderings yet to come.
Get over it Paige, write something! Make a mess and write about life, which itself is always such a wonderful messy thing to write about.
