A Tirade About My Future

by The Philosophical Fish

In the past year I’ve felt a bit beaten down and frustrated with many things, and I have let a lot of my creative outlets slide, like photography. I’m trying to spark it again, all of it, and so I bought myself a little present the other day.

Haikubes. A set of dice, with words on them, that are designed for spontaneous Haiku writing.

They work like this:

1. Roll all the Haikubes

2. Locate the two coloured Haikubes and see what they say on the upfacing sides. That is the inspiration for the Haiku; the direction and theme of the poem

3. Use the rest of the Haikubes to write your poem of five, seven, and five syllables

4. Display the Haiku in the top layer of the box and use blank sided cubes to frame it

5. The next time you are feeling poetic, roll and write another Haiku

I initially bought it to take to the office. Everyone is sto disconnected these days that I’ve been trying to figure out how to generate a bit of random dialogue once in awhile. My last attempt was some Canadian magnetic poetry. it worked for a bit, and seems to have gone cold. The Haikubes are my next attempt, but I may regre it if people are rolling them too often….the noise may be their downfall…

But, the title…I found it rather amusing that, on my first roll, this is the direction and theme that the Haikubes gave me.

Well, who am I to argue with a random roll of the dice?

So, with what was left on the table, here is what I managed to come up with for a Haiku.
