On the Road Again

by The Philosophical Fish

We got the bikes insured last weekend and I got it in for service this past Thursday. And I have to give a big shout out to Burnaby Kawasaki. Too many motorcycle dealerships/service providers treat women as second citizens or manage to talk down to them somehow. I am never anything but impressed at the service Burnaby Kawasaki offers or the courtesy shown to every rider, regardless of gender; I never leave feeling slimed. There is a reason that I return there with my bike, year after year, even though I didn’t buy it there.

Since I was off for a few days, Friday seemed like a good day for a solo run to make friends with the Ninja once more and I did a nice zip up to Squamish and out on Paradise road as far as the pavement goes, which, conveniently, is also where one of my hatcheries lies. Even though I was off, I always enjoy stopping in and out to say hello to the hatchery staff.

Sasquatch crossing on Paradise Valley Road.

Saturday we rode up to Whistler for lunch. The road was smooth, the traffic was light, and the road warriors were few in number. It was oddly quiet for a Saturday and it felt good to shake out the cobwebs.

On the way, we pulled into Porteau Cove and my odometer was at 19,999 km. Kirk made me ride around the lot three times to roll it over to 20,000 km.

And he calls me OCD 🙂

A beautiful area to ride in. 11 min for 1km?

Ha ha! No, 9 minutes of arguing about why I should/shouldn’t put my helmet back on to ride around a parking lot to get a photo and 2 minutes to give up and make my husband happy and end the debate 🙂
