Poor little warbler is recovering after hitting a window.
I heard a thud on one of the high windows and turned to see what looked like a large leaf fluttering in a spiral down towards the deck and off to an angle. I found him a few feet away, on one of the deck chairs, falling over backwards and unable to work his feet. He’d must have had quite a clunk to the noggin, but he was alive and without anything apparently broken.
After a few minutes warming him in my cupped hands he was able to perch, sort of, but still in shock, so I went inside and lined a small bowl with a towel and slipped him in, loosely draping the towel over top. Dark and warm, but with a way out for when he felt ready.
Eventually he flew out and into the cedar hedge, presumably with a headache, but he will live; others have not been so lucky.
The downside of living in a wooded area in a house with more glass than wall; about 45 separate windows.

A beautiful capture, I’m very happy to know he survived. I had a little goldfinch do the same a few years ago which wasn’t so lucky.
