Unsuitable Clothing

by The Philosophical Fish

“There’s no such thing as bad weather, only unsuitable clothing.”

~ Alfred Wainwright, A Coast to Coast Walk

In the 70s, Alfred Wainwright wrote a book documenting a path across England, from “Coast to Coast”, as it were. The Coast to Coast Walk, devised by Wainwright himself, stretches across 190 miles from St Bees Head on the East coast to Robin Hood’s Bay on the West, passing through the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors. His pictorial guide, first published in 1973, proved a hit. Now hundreds, or even perhaps thousands, of people walk it each year. Maybe I will visit it someday.

What has that got to do with the photo?

Nothing really.

The hat is just a memory of summer, since this is clearly not a hat for the current weather. ☺

The rains train has arrived and it’s time to put the summer digs away for another year.

Nicely framed. I used that quote yesterday, when Clive was complaining about the cold!
