Anna’s Hummingbird

by The Philosophical Fish

February 3, 2017 – Vancouver has a population of Anna’s Hummingbirds that overwinter here. They are tiny, have high metabolic requirements, and feed is presumably scarce at this time of year, so I try very hard to make sure the feeder is always out, always contains food, and stays thawed out.

It’s a pretty neat thing to see a hummingbird on a backdrop of snow.

Not a great series of shots since it was an opportunistic capture and I didn’t have time to set up my camera better, but still cool.

Such tiny little birds must be hard for them to stay warm.
