October 25, 2016 – ’tis the season, the season for stormy seas and rainy days.
A low pressure system took a shot at the centre and northern parts of Vancouver Island last night and most of today and, while it makes working outside a bit miserable, it also does wonderful things to the ocean, bringing it to life.
Birds like to ride the winds, but only to a point, eventually even they know when it’s a better idea to take to the ground and hunker down until the wind blows itself out. I love the way they all point towards the wind. I realize that it makes sense because their feathers would all pull back if they faced away from the wind, but it reminds me of a group of boats anchored in a small bay, all clustered together, all straining on their anchor while waiting for fairer winds.
Fishermen tend to follow the same logic……
But no matter how grumpy she gets, Mother Nature always has a few special surprises for those who venture out in the wind and the rain to make it worthwhile
Cue the rainbow!
