July 19, 2016 – Remember those childhood summer days?
Kirk was at a meeting a while back and the corporate swag at one table had these novelty balsa wood planes for the taking (with the requisite corporate logo and phone number on the wings). He took one and brought it home for me, knowing it would bring a smile and a little trip down memory lane. He was right, it did.
Those silly little toys we used to play with, the fun we’d have, the imagination they would generate. I know our games weren’t as glittery or techy, but I think they made us think more, and I think they engaged us socially a lot more fully that video games do today.
A stick was a sword, a broom was a horse, a balsa wood plane was a portal to an imaginary world that we had yet to discover, and which could be different every day. None of them cost much, if anything at all, but they provided endless adventure and enjoyment.
