December 21, 2015 – The Christmas display at the Capilano Suspension Bridge, just a block from our home, is a spectacular one. We lived just a few blocks below the Suspension Bridge for almost 20 years and, amazingly, never knew of the existence of the Christmas display until we moved just above it two years ago. How we could live here this long and not know about this is beyond me.
It’s a beautiful display to drive home past every night at this time of year. And since it wasn’t raining this evening, and since it was a Monday and therefore a little quieter, we walked the short distance to enjoy the lights again.
And the best part, since we live so close and have to put up with the tourist parking madness on our street, is that the owner of the park provides year round free access to those of us with the same postal code prefix.
Last night we heard one person say that he thought the display here is better than the one at the Van Dusen Gardens. I’m not sure about that, but since we intend to visit that display over the holidays too, I guess we’ll make our own comparison 🙂
While the park is chaotic any time of year, it’s particularly so during the Christmas lights season. Shrieking children, mobs of adults….even the odd dog being hauled through the crush. But it’s also fun to just stand at the edge and watch and listen. Everyone is happy, delighted at the display, everyone is excited, and it’s a bit infectious.
