October 26, 2015 – I can’t take most cough suppressants due to a sensitivity to the active ingredient in the vast majority of them. It’s a pretty cool buzz, but when you can’t stand let alone walk for hours after ingesting it, and when you see pretty light tracers when you move your head, you tend to avoid it,
My cold remedy is hot water with whiskey or rum, lemon, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, and a pinch of cayenne.
Oh, and a cat.
But a cold is like having the hiccups, everyone has a home remedy. So far today I’ve been told to gargle hydrogen peroxide, put oil of oregano under my tongue, take echinacea, drink red wine, and drink Guinness on a specific schedule. Echinacea has been debunked (though I still take it), hydrogen peroxide sounds painful and incredibly unpleasant, and I’ve been trapped in an elevator with someone who had just taken oil of oregano, not going there. However, those last two, red wine and Guinness sound just fine.

I hate it when I jamb my toothbrush in my mouth and cut the edge of my gums… and it hurts for days… can you not touch it?… nope… does it still hurt?…yup?… Still? yup… still? yup… 🙂

LOL! No, you let it snuggle up and provide additional warmth and comfort. Nothing beats a cup of tea and a purring cat.
The cat we had growing up, Satan, would never leave the sick person’s side. Unless, of course, you called Mom and Satan thought she was being tardy. Then, she’d find Mom and meow at her to hurry up 😀

If you have a cold and can’t sleep try mixing that whiskey with a neocitrine…there’s a reason they say avoid alcohol on the package 🙂 we called the drink a “Good Night”

I wish some of the interior sites were mine to support, but the facilities I work with are mostly on Vancouver Island, with one here in town and one in Bella Coola. But I’ll get there to visit eventually.

I like the photo….not the fact that you are sick.
Someone told me once that you should blend up a whole lemon, peel, seeds and all, add ice and a bit of sugar then eat the whole thing three times a day. I tried this once and now I just pretend I never get sick.
I can completely understand why!
I never take cold medications and I have 5 bosses who don’t believe in sick days for Mommy. Pretending not to be sick seems to be the best remedy.
And yes, the cat is essential 😉
